Responsibilities

Monitoring and maintaining the network

  • Support essential network services across heterogeneous hardware
  • Maintain and enhance a stable, responsive and cost efficient network infrastructure; LAN, WLAN, WAN, PBX, DNS Servers, remote access.
  • Support essential network services across Azure and other cloud vendors
  • Monitor performance and traffic shaping/QoS
  • Maintain and enhance network security

Analyzing/Predicting Network function

  • Implement and maintain network management tools
  • Collect network traffic analysis and analyze central logs
  • Perform vulnerability scanning

Troubleshooting and Business Continuity

  • Provide 2nd level expert network support for the Help Desk to ensure timely response and resolution to problems as they are escalated
  • Work with IS staff on disaster recovery plans for the University’s computing environment
  • Prioritize Business Systems down to student access
  • Consult with faculty and staff to determine computer and software needs and specifications
  • Implement complex network configuration changes accurately without adversely affecting the network availability for the entire campus, including internet connection, mission critical services and remote campuses
  • Respond to security vulnerabilities, attacks and events
